Whither ‘Christian’ Video Games?

Lately there has been much ado in the media accompanying the release of a new crop of Christian video games, I came across this quote by a pastor on the subject:

Where does the doctrine of vocation fall in all of this? I say a first person shooter about a US (or any nation’s soldier for that matter) marine fighting for his nation is Christian enough. This is also true for the sports game - where you pretend to live out the vocation of an ahtlete and entertainer. Thinking that a “Christian” video game means fighting evil spirits with “swords of the spirit” encourages a false dichotomoy between spirituality and “real” life. Being Christian is being a baker, a bus driver, and a father. Games that allow me to escape to another vocation are as Christian as it needs to get!

Announcement: New Position!

Today was my last day as Interactive Manager at inferno, I’ll be starting next week at my local church, Second Presbyterian in Memphis (2PC) as the Director of Communications & Technology.

inferno has been a very rewarding opportunity, I will miss my team greatly. I can recommend inferno highly to anyone in need of a full-service marketing agency in Memphis.

I fully intend for the activity on this blog to step up a bit. This actually started as a test, as I was setting up WordPress to see how it compared to some other blog engines for a client. I quickly fell in love with WordPress’ setup and decided to leave this thing humming.

Stay Tuned.
